When Obama endorsed marriage equality…
… Michelle was like “I TOLD YOU SO.”

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]
Every once in a great while, I get invited to a schmancy red carpet affair. Last night it was a party thrown by Philip Treacy, UK’s beloved hat designer. I have to admit that I didn’t know who he was before the event but his designs are unforgettable.

It felt like a kiss
A couple of my favorites pieces from the recent series “It felt like a kiss” by Alexandros Vasmoulakis

Excellent work old chap :)

Le Petit Prince
I’ve never really been a huge fan of dolls, but suddenly my life feels incomplete without a Petit Prince.

Festival en el Barrio (Tucson)
Last night I was in Tucson for the Festival en el Barrio. (Mil gracias Jann for the invitation). We were mainly there for Calexico, who we’ve been fans of for years. But there were a few other bands that I wouldn’t mind seeing again sometime.
Shaun Harris (and friends). I loved the sound of this random bunch.

I was dying to salsa to Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta. Sadly, Tucson supplied no dancers at the scene. Que tristeza.

Calexico was amazing as always. I didn’t realize that they occasionally borrowed from Manu Chao. They did it well though, so it’s OK.

My friend Cari was in town for a few days and we decided to check out the Showgirls night at Micky’s in West Hollywood where some of Rupaul’s Drag Race ladies perform on Mondays. We really didn’t know what to expect but I have to say, it was pretty phenomenal.
Morgan McMichaels as the evil queen from Snow White

Miss Mayhem

Willem and friends as Wilson Phillips. Hilarious.

McMichaels again, she was quite the chameleon…

We weren’t sure what was happening with this act. It kind of creeped us out but we liked it.
The lovely Raven as the show’s host was a total riot and mesmerizing at the same time.

Berlin
What’s in store for the upcoming summer stay in Berlin? I thought I’d refresh my memory by looking at pics from my recent stop there last summer…
Unpredictable and moody weather

Random art creations everywhere

more art painted, scribbled, pasted, carved, onto just about every corner

It’s literally coming out of the walls

Overwhelming? Yes. Over-saturated? Maybe. Inspiring? Definitely.

Back to Berlin
I’ve been going back and forth a bit trying to decide where to spend this summer and finally decided on Berlin. It’s inspiring, affordable, and I think I can handle the weather of the summer months. I’m spending the next few months saving and living modestly, but it’ll be worth it. T-minus about 45 days. Woo hoo!

Boyle Heights: Part 2
Went back to Boyle Heights for another round of photo shooting. This time on a Saturday when there was a bit more life in the streets.
First stop was Mariachi Plaza, which literally is where mariachi musicians gather and wait in hopes of getting hired for an impromptu gig.

We stumbled across another area of mariachis waiting off of 1st street.

The Lift

It’s been a long time since I’ve danced my arse off like I did this past Saturday Night. Many thanks to Jeremy Sole and his roaming DJ night The Lift with DJ duo Johnwaynes from Portugal. Good times and great music.
